Latest developments in negotiations for non-authorized bus stops and routes by TPL

Dear Parents,

this is to update you on the latest developments in negotiations with the transport companies regarding their unilateral decision to use only stops and routes authorised by the TPL (Local Public Transport Authority).

Following the last meeting with Autolinee Varesine held last February, in which our Cooperativa asked for an exception to be considered for the stops that are not authorised but were used until last year and are safer, we were informed that they intend to continue to follow TPL instructions, which unfortunately do not provide for any authorisation of the stops we requested as they do not meet the technical requirements of the regulations.

An alternative is to make the current line stops safer by forwarding any requests for the construction of walkways and pedestrian crossings to the appropriate bodies (municipalities, provinces, etc...). This is what we have done, and we are awaiting feedback from the bodies contacted.

On the other hand, with regard to reducing travel time by requesting the possibility of using the lake road or the Comerio road depending on the traffic, as was done until last year, a request for authorisation was submitted to the TPL, which will take effect from September 2024.

With regard to other requests for transit along unauthorised roads, since these are narrow and have no centre line, there is no possibility that the TPL will grant authorisation.

However we intend to meet directly with the TPL for specific negotiations.

We will keep you updated in case of any further developments in this regard.
